Originally aired on January 4, 2017 on the Faith Radio Network with Dr. Bill Meier.  In this interview, we discuss Family Businesses and how they are different from a publicly held corporation.  In this broadcast, we discuss the four roles one can hold in a corporation – shareholder, director, officer and employee.  Role confusion often results in the chain of command being questioned by non-family employees.  We also discuss why the next generation needs to work outside the family business for five to ten years before being allowed to assume the role of owner or leader in the family business.  We end by discussing how dysfunctional family relationships can negatively impact the family business and how to keep the business healthy long after the founders have passed.
